Under Federal Law, if Medicare paid any bills and there is a lawsuit or claim filed, Medicare is entitled to be reimbursed for the amounts they paid. If you receive Medicare or Medicaid and are making a claim to receive money damages in a Personal Injury case, you will need to write to Medicare requesting details on bills paid based on your accident.
